Disposal of High-Voltage (HV) Systems
PRIOREC has specialised in the new challenges involved in the professional disposal of new waste from electromobility and the associated high-voltage (HV) systems.
PRIOREC has the appropriate licences, trained personnel, special storage and container systems and its own logistics.

HV STORAGE AND LOGISTICS SYSTEMS
PRIOREC uses special container systems to meet the highest safety requirements for the storage and transport of HV systems
- Storage and transport containers for HV batteries
- Storage and transport containers for e-vehicles involved in accidents
The storage and transport of HV systems – especially if they are classified as N.I.O. or critical – require sensitive requirements for storage and transport containers and, of course, for the transport itself.
With its special containers, PRIOREC is able to ensure safe transport and, if necessary, interim storage until final disposal. Digital monitoring systems are used as well as self-sufficient extinguishing systems for emergencies.
A completed ADR HV battery checklist is a prerequisite for the collection of HV systems.
Among other things, PRIOREC uses the patented LION.COOL.BOX system – a special container for the safe storage and transport of electric vehicles (including those involved in accidents) and HV batteries developed in-house.
The LION.COOL.BOX is offered by PRIOREC to interested customers and sold to partners.

HV battery recycling
PRIOREC is capable of preparing and discharging (dismantling/discharging) all currently known HV batteries, dismantling them and sending the individual components for professional utilisation or recycling.
- HV batteries (from 60 V), especially battery packs (ZSB)
- Traction batteries from all electric vehicles (cars, commercial vehicles, commercial vehicles, AGVs, lorries)
- HV modules from stationary storage systems and complete storage units
- HV batteries from accidents, fire damage and accidents
- Dismantled modules from storage systems
- All cell technologies (NMC, LFP…) from all manufacturers
- All battery types (round, pouch, prismatic, cell-to-pack)
- All battery dimensions (all vehicles; up to 20‘’ containers)
The PRIOREC dismantling team has a comprehensive range of equipment, coupled with extensive experience with a wide variety of battery types.
For the recycling itself, PRIOREC has a network of highly specialised HV recycling plants.

Electric vehicles
PRIOREC is the specialised partner for all manufacturers of e-mobility products.
- All road vehicles with HV batteries
- Electric construction machinery and municipal equipment
- Motorbikes, two-wheelers, microcars
- Driverless or autonomous transport systems
- Buses, rail vehicles, boats, military technology
PRIOREC uses its 25 years of experience in the dismantling of pre-series vehicles to provide series vehicles and prototypes with high-quality recycling. In addition to the dismantling of HV batteries, all other hazardous materials are also removed and safely disposed of (liquids, heavy metals, electronics) in accordance with the End-of-Life Vehicle Ordinance. Data carriers are dismantled for data protection reasons and destroyed in our own facilities. All pyrotechnical systems (airbags, seatbelt tensioners, actuators, etc.) are removed and neutralised with our own patented ignition container. At the customer’s request, car parts are dismantled for test purposes or for preparation as used parts as well as for the sale of parts.

Damaged (critical) HV batteries,
also from fire damage
PRIOREC also specialises in the professional acceptance, storage and treatment of damaged HV batteries (so-called ‘critical HV batteries’)
Critical HV batteries can result from
- HV battery development and from test procedures (including fire tests)
- Physical damage to HV batteries during manufacture, transport and storage
- Unclear condition and/or no data basis
In particular, these critical HV batteries arise from
- Accidents and fires involving electric vehicles
Particularly high safety requirements apply to the acceptance, storage, handling and disposal of ‘critical’ HV batteries. PRIOREC has special BAM-approved safety containers in various sizes that can be used for both temporary storage and transport. The LION.COOL.BOX container system developed in-house is also used by PRIOREC in the event of fire damage to electric vehicles.
Our specialised personnel inspect the damaged vehicle or HV battery, dismantle the vehicle and HV components and remove the HV batteries down to module level after discharging (if still possible). At this point, a decision is made as to whether the modules are still recyclable or need to be disposed of (mainly in the event of fire damage).

Fires and write-offs
PRIOREC always finds a safe and quick solution even for complicated cases.

Patented storage system LION.COOL.BOX®
The newly developed LION.COOL.BOX® from PRIOREC is a self-sufficient transport and storage medium especially for ‘critical’ HV batteries or e-vehicles
- Can be used as a transport or storage facility for HV batteries and e-vehicles
- Stationary and mobile temperature monitoring with warning function
- Integrated three-stage extinguishing system (aerosol, sprinkler, reversible partial flooding, option for complete flooding by emergency services in an emergency)
- Self-sufficient circuit for extinguishing water up to 7 cbm
The LION.COOL.BOX® is a universal and technically advanced system that enables the highest possible level of monitored storage safety.
Irregularities in the HV battery are detected by the permanent temperature monitoring system and, if necessary, even fires are recognised and delayed (aerosol system and sprinkler system).
If required, the integrated extinguishing water system (up to 7 cbm) can be activated, which offers environmentally friendly solutions for the extinguishing water thanks to the recirculation system.
The LION.COOL.BOX® can be used as a monitored storage room, as a quarantine system, for waste transport or as a container for decaying extinguished batteries or vehicles.
The LION.COOL.BOX®, which will be launched on the market in 2023, will be built under the direction of PRIOREC and can be rented or sold to customers. Further information is available if you are interested in buying or renting.
